Clarification
Yesterday we received clarification from our agency about our "place in line." We are currently 2nd in the female under 24 months line....however, there is a somewhat parallel line to ours for families who are requesting either gender or females up to 36 months. In that line there are technically 6 families who have been waiting longer than us. That line will affect our wait if there are no girls over 2 to place with the families that said that they would accept older children, or if there are no boys to place with the families who said they would accept either gender....so our agency would feel obligated to give them a female under 24 months (which of course they would be happy about.) We are feeling slightly discouraged to say the least as we thought we were a little closer to finding Miah than we actually might be. The shared list is rumoured to come out this week so we will keep a watchful eye on referral updates.

You might be adopting from China if...
....you know that I-600 & I-171 aren't highways
....you've been expecting a baby for over 3 years
....you understand that it's 2006 in some parts of the world
....you've "paid for" 3 citizenships, but never brought anyone into Canada
....you know that waiting for China has nothing to do with Dillards or dishes
...your homestudy is followed by a number (i.e. #3 or #4)
...you never know how many days next month will have
...you know that babies come in batches
...you've been fingerprinted four times, but never committed a crime
...you automatically assume everyone who is expecting is having a girl
...you own new clothing in 3 little sizes for all 4 seasons (because you don't know when or how big)
...you look twice when you see a lady bug
...you're more interested in what will happen in March 2006 than in March 2009
...you know people who understand when you talk about 2 day months & 5 day months
...your due date hasn't changed by days, but by years
...you know who the Rumor Queen is ... AND ... you don't know who she is
...you know that forecast doesn't have anything to do with the weather
...you've waited so long, they re-checked your fingerprints to see if they changed
...trying to understand why they're printing you again, you study your own fingerprints and wonder if fingerprints grow wrinkles
...when you speak of "that time of month" you're talking about CCAA updates & referrals
You might be adopting from China if you love someone you've never met with all your heart.

19 Months
It has been 19 months today since our paperwork was logged in with the CCAA. 19 months of official waiting. As for our request for a child with a SN, we have been waiting for almost 5 months. We heard this past weekend that another Okanagan family was matched with a baby girl, so that moves us up to the number 2 spot....or maybe...do I dare even to hope...to the number 1 spot? We have an e-mail out to our agency asking for clarification, but have not heard back yet. Once we are on the top of the pile, our wait time is still uncertain. One family waited for 8 months once they were on the top, while another only waited 2 weeks. I feel that we are close to finding her. God has given me great excitement about her homecoming over the past couple of weeks. We even went shopping on Saturday and bought a ladybug crib bedding set and sling to carry her around in. Really, those are the only two purchases we have made to get ready for her arrival. I think up until now we have been guarding our hearts...and now, for myself, I am feeling peace about letting that guard down and allowing myself to get excited.
