First Days at Home

Miah has been home for two full days now. We are working on getting into a routine. She has pretty much adjusted to our time zone and is sleeping well. She still has moments where she is crying for Mama and I am not the Mama she is looking for, but we are making progress. On day one she wouldn't let me near her when she had her bottle, but today she has been coming over on her own and climbing up and laying in my arms while she drinks. I am however NOT allowed to touch the bottle yet! She eats well, noodles and rice are her favorites. Drinking is still a bit of an issue as she is not able to suck from the bottle (due to her cleft palate)...she basically chews on the nipple and gets some milk or water out that way. A very long process for a few ounces of liquid. We are trying to encourage her to eat watermelon and apple sauce to get some additional liquid into her. We are seeing more and more of her personality each day.

This is "the look" her sisters often get...especially if there is food involved.
Yummy...noodles..my favorite!

  1. Glad to see everyone settling in so well. I'm sure she is well received everywhere she goes. Such a cutie! :)

I noticed Miah eating soup. We had G. drink a lot of soup (from a cup - sort of slurping) for extra liquid too. We came home in the winter mind you. The watermelon is a great idea.

  2. That sister/noodle picture is pretty funny. It really needs a caption. Maybe something like, "um...is there something I can help you with because you are NOT taking my food, just fyi." :)

Keep taking pics of all those first moments!
